The VIN is etched into the unibody at the passenger strut tower, the left front at the dash panel, and the driver door has a sticker. No body panels are factory VIN labeled that I've ever seen. My 2013 has a VIN sticker on every body panel like the e36s used to do but my 2011 does not.
